  • This child placemat is available your choice of pastel pink or sky blue.
  • Each child placemat has cream colored silhouettes of the silverware, napkins and plates, to show where each item goes.
  • These educational placemats are made right here in the USA by people with autism and other developmental disabilities.
  • Your child placemat order is custom made when you order it, so you can mix and match your colors to get just the set you want!

Lucas uses the Child Placemat to set the table.

What goes where? All children should know how to set a table properly, but when a child has autism or another developmental disability, learning a skill like how to set a table correctly can be a difficult if not impossible task.

We tried and tried to help Lucas understand how to set our table, but because of his autism, he could not get the hang of putting certain things in the same places at each place.

He just could not retain the information until the next time he needed to set the table! The only thing we found that helped him was to use a picture of a table setting, so he could SEE the correct way to arrange the silverware, napkin and plate. Of course, after a while, the picture became worn and hard to see.

That's when we decided to create this Child Placemat!

Our educational placemat can help your child learn the proper way to set the table.

Uses visual cues - This 11 1/2 x 17 1/2 inch child placemat has silhouettes of a plate, napkin, fork, knife and spoon on it, so that your child will be able to put these items in the proper place when setting the table.

Works from any angle - They can see exactly where everything should go, no matter which angle they look at it from, or what side of the table they're on when they try to set it.

This means a perfectly set table every time, even when people are in the way, or when your child has to set some of the places while standing on the other side of the table!

Lays flat every time - Our educational placemat is flat, so no one will have trouble getting things to lay right on it (sometimes a problem with quilted place mats).

Easy cleaning - Cleaning the child placemat is a breeze thanks to a laminated surface.

A new skill - Just think, one more skill accomplished by your child, and one more chore that you don't need to do!

You can focus on making dinner, because thanks to this child placemat, your child can set the table while you cook.

A possible job - It's REALLY hard for most people with severe disabilities like autism to find employment. Learning to set the table properly with this child placemat could easily translate into a job in the catering or restaurant business.

We know of people who learned to set the table using this educational placemat, and are able to work in the dining rooms at residential facilities, using their skills and making money at it!

Look at what he can do! - Lucas is setting the table for us every evening. (On week nights, the plates are filled at the stove, so they don't go on until last.)

In the photo below, you can see that Lucas did a pretty good job setting the table, (except for forgetting Dad's napkin)! We know, he looks a little old to be just learning this skill, but I doubt if he would have ever learned it successfully without this placemat!

The table is set!
